A Closer Look At Exodus 1:1-7, Increasing In The Land

Let’s recall God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 15:”Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years. 14 But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions. 15 As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age. 16 And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”

All the generation that moved to Egypt because of the famine died off, Joseph included. And their numbers was 70. But they kept the mandate of God. Just as Adam and Eve were told to multiply and increase, the people of Israel kept  the commandment of the Lord to multiply and increase in numbers. God had already told Abraham that the people were going to live in a foreign land that wasn’t theirs for 400 years. I’m sure that those  words were passed down from generation to generation; so they knew that they were going to be in the land for that long, and they probably kept recalling the words and promises of the Lord in Egypt in order to keep them from despairing. We’ll be taking a closer look at Exodus 1:1-7 today, see video below
