A couple of years ago, I was confronted with the verse of Scripture below and to this day I haven’t fully understood it,

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God

1 Corinthians 10:31

I find it interesting that the Apostle Paul when he was writing this verse under the inspiration of the Spirit of Truth chose two of the most basic human activities ( eating and drinking) to deliver his punchline and give his audience a clear illustration of the sole purpose of mankind.

This morning I want to zero in on how this mandate relates to the concept of “work”. The majority of folks work to get a paycheck in order to supply their needs or wants. If there is one thing I can’t stand, it’s the enticing videos of certain individuals who encourage others to pursue the idea of early retirement  for the sake of worthless purposes, thus distorting the beauty of “ work “ and its purpose.
I was trying to write an extensive post on “ the grace of work “ and I found this lecture by Voddie Baucham that sums up in a very concise way the chief purpose of work ( I will encourage you to watch it in its entirety).
