Man Does Not Live By Bread Alone, The Implications Of Matthew 4:4

Man Does Not Live By Bread Alone, The Implications Of Matthew 4:4

Spread the love

We read the following in Matthew 4,1-4: And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he ( Jesus)was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, “It is written,

“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Jesus was quoting Deuteronomy 8:3. What does this tell us immediately? We learn from this that Jesus put a high premium on the Old Testament ( the law and the prophets) or He wouldn’t have been quoting it. But my goal today is to take a closer look at Matthew 4:4, in order to understand what our Lord was teaching us, see video below
