What is the Sin that leads to death, or shall I say ultimate death? Welcome back to our study of the book of first John. Last week we talked about the testimony that God has given his church about the identify of Christ, as being co-substantial and co eternal with the Father. John presented the evidence for the deity of Christ in chapter 5 as he mentioned His baptism and His death on the cross. John now shifts gear and is giving  more practical counsel to his congregation to reassure them about their adoption’s status- true children of the living God. Today we’re going to continue with verses 16 and 17 of chapter 5, and talk about the sin that leads to ultimate death, see video below

The Sin that leads to death

The Passage:

16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God[a] will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death.
